Twitter user @RobertCFO posted on Wednesday that he found a vulnerability that allows users to remotely wipe iPhone and iPad using advanced proximity Bluetooth LE vulnerabilities without having to access these devices. The user also stated that he will provide proof in the future.

The tweet contained a screenshot of an email exchange between him and a member of the Apple product security team. The team members acknowledged this problem and said it will be resolved in iOS 15.1. Apple representatives said that iOS 15.1 will be launched on Monday, October 25, which is one week after Apple’s press conference. Apple also requires Robert to keep e-mail and exploit details confidential until the patch is released to users.

Apple today released the fourth developer beta for iOS 15.1 and iPadOS 15.1. The upcoming iOS15.1 will introduce features that were not released in time in the initial iOS15 version, such as SharePlay.
