Apple launches digital heritage allowing users to set specific contacts to access their accounts after death

Recently, Apple released a major update to the iPhone, iOS 15.2, which includes a new feature called Digital Legacy. This change will allow users to select specific people who can access their account after death.

So far, it has been difficult for loved ones to access the Apple account of a deceased family member or friend. Without cell phone passwords or iCloud information, family members sometimes have to obtain court orders to access the digital data of deceased relatives. If the surviving family members need phone numbers, emails, passwords, notes, and other information, this kind of access can be very helpful.

The set contacts can access data stored in iCloud, such as photos and documents, after the death of the original user, as long as they have a special access key and a copy of the death certificate.
