Apple’s first-generation AR/VR headset products may appear in less than a year
2 min readUsers can get the long-rumored augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR) headsets of Apple within a year, because the company is rumored to have begun to partition the time frame of the device’s release date. According to recent reports, Apple’s headsets are expected to provide AR and VR functions and be used in games, media and communications, and may reach customers in the near future. Although the exact date is not yet known, the approximate time frame has become clearer.
Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo recently stated that Apple’s headset is expected to be launched in the fourth quarter of 2022. He initially stated that the device is planned to be launched in the second quarter of 2022, but there have been some delays in the process of launching mass production. The fourth quarter is Apple’s target time. The fourth quarter of 2022 will run from October 1st to December 31st, which means that the release date may be less than 10 months.
In addition, Apple may also show its headset for the first time at the WWDC in June next year, in order to give developers enough time to prepare applications for them before release. Morgan Stanley analysts said that the project is now “close to taking off” and it is somewhat similar to the development schedule before the launch of the Apple Watch.
This headset is expected to provide a lightweight design, two 4K micro LED displays, 15 optical modules, two main processors, Wi-Fi 6E connection, eye tracking, perspective AR mode, object tracking and gesture control. The exact price of the device is not yet known, but some reports indicate that it may cost customers around US$3,000.
