Essential Phone’s original team will launch the Android flagship phone OSOM OV1
2 min readOSOM, a new company founded by former Essential Phone CEO Jason Keats, will launch a new Android smartphone OSOM OV1 in the summer of 2022. It is reported that OSOM OV1 will be a privacy-conscious Android phone. OSOM released some photos of OSOM OV1 through foreign media. The phone will be equipped with a rear dual-camera and back fingerprint scanner. The founder Keats said that OV1 will be a flagship Android device.
OSOM OV1 will not be equipped with the modular accessory system of the Essential phone, because this makes Essential engineers “headache”. This phone will be equipped with its own version of Android, and users will get “100 times more powerful” privacy features than Android, including allowing users to adjust settings more freely and adjust Android at the developer level. Keats once stated that it would be easy to turn off features such as GPS and camera.

OSOM will share more details of this phone in February.
OSOM was established in November 2021 and is run by 8 former Essential employees. OSOM stands for “Out of Sight, Out of Mind”, “Father of Android”, Essential founder, and former Google CEO Andy Rubin has nothing to do with this company. OSOM had planned to release its first product before the end of 2021, but it failed to materialize.
The company hopes to release seven to eight products in the next three years. This is not only a smart phone, but also other hardware and software products.
