Apple’s Mac shipments fell 22.5 percent year-over-year in the second quarter of 2022. That figure is higher than the 15.3 percent decline that hit the entire PC market during the same period, according to the latest data from research firm IDC.
Overall, global PC shipments fell to 71.3 million units, IDC said, the second consecutive quarterly decline in shipments after two years of explosive growth during the coronavirus pandemic.
Apple shipped 4.8 million units in the second quarter of 2022, essentially tying it for fifth place with Asus, which shipped 4.7 million units.
In order from first to fourth were Lenovo, HP, Dell and Acer. Despite the overall decline, total PC volumes are still comparable to the beginning of the outbreak and the market remains well above pre-pandemic levels.
