Apple plans to launch the second generation of AR/VR headsets in the first half of 2025
1 min readAnalyst Ming-Chi Kuo recently said that Apple plans to launch a second generation of AR/VR headsets in the first half of 2025, possibly with higher-end configurations and new affordable options.
In his Medium blog, Kuo writes
The second-generation Apple AR/VR headset, which could feature high-end and more affordable models, will launch in the first half of 2025, with parts suppliers set to begin shipping in the second half of 2024.
Thanks to the second-generation Apple AR/MR product segmentation strategy and ecosystem, Apple AR/MR shipments could reach 10 million units as soon as 2025 or 2026.
Guo previously reported that Apple has not yet released its first AR/MR headset, but plans to hold a special event in January 2023 to showcase the product.
Apple’s first headset will be an expensive product, priced at more than $3,000. The analyst said a new affordable option would help Apple make its headwear more mainstream and increase total shipments to 10 million units by 2025 or 2026.
