Although Apple Watch and similar devices can collect many useful data points-in some cases up to the clinical level, most doctors do not use it. For example, clinical psychologist Michael Bruce stated that 99.9% of medical professionals have not yet joined.

“The problem is that this is not accepted by the medical community and will not last long,” said Dr. Steven LeBoeuf, co-founder of the biometric company Valencell. “[FDA] must approve it, then doctors must accept it, and then they need to be compensated. This is a long process. It is not as simple as people think.”

According to the report, another issue is how to deal with the data collected by Apple Watch. Virta Health CEO Sami Inkinen said that just providing people with data without personalized care advice is not enough to improve health.

In addition, research shows that many Apple Watch users consider themselves healthy, so the target market for the device may not include people who already wear Apple Watch.
