Slow growth Apple TV+ finally captures 6% of US streaming market
1 min readA report earlier this year showed that Apple TV+ was growing slowly, accounting for just 5 percent of the U.S. streaming platform’s market share. And three months later, Apple TV+ has finally captured 6 percent of the U.S. streaming market – and Netflix continues to lose subscribers.
According to a new report from JustWatch seen by 9to5Mac, the second quarter 2022 results were quite positive for smaller streaming platforms like Paramount+, Apple TV+, Hulu (owned by Disney) and Disney+.
While these platforms have been growing in recent months, this has not been the case for major platforms like Netflix and Amazon Prime Video.
Netflix lost 2% of its market share in the U.S. last quarter. Although the platform remains the most popular, with 21% of the market share, it has struggled to retain its subscribers.
The current market share of streaming platforms in the U.S. is as follows
Netflix: 21%.
Amazon Prime Video: 20%.
HBO Max: 15%.
Disney+: 14%.
Hulu: 10%.
Apple TV+: 6%.
Paramount+: 4%.
Others: 10%.
