No wonder Win11 must have TPM 2.0! Reasons uncovered
2 min readThe official version of Windows 11 has been pushed, and the new version of the system requires TPM 2.0 to run.
Today, the official Microsoft Help and Support Weibo explains why the Microsoft Windows 11 operating system requires TPM 2.0.
Microsoft said that we need TPM 2.0 to run Windows 11 because it is an important building block for security-related functions.
Microsoft believes that TPM 2.0 can provide hardware-based isolation and encryption, which is conducive to combining the security features of the Windows 11 system to respond to threats and protect personal information.
It is reported that the full English name of TPM is Trusted Platform Module (Trusted Platform Module), which is an international standard for secure cryptographic processors. TPM is the use of a security-verified encryption key to bring stronger security to the device. It is also the core of many security applications. The TPM 2.0 required by the Windows 11 upgrade is the latest version.
TPM is used for key calculation and encrypted storage. Windows must use this chip to implement security features such as Windows device encryption and advanced BitLocker encryption, helping Windows more strictly protect user data.
Since the TPM uses a completely dedicated circuit, the entire calculation and storage process can go through the memory and leave no traces on the hard disk. Therefore, the security of key generation, verification and storage is very high, which is a bit similar to T-series chips specially used to store encrypted data in Apple products.
Inspection Method:
Press Windows+R to open “Run”, or directly enter tpm.msc in the Windows 10 search bar to view the results.
