Innovative service concept Audis first EV charging center will open on trial on December 23

Last year, Audi announced the brand’s electrification strategy and set a deadline of 2033 for all new ICE models. Next week, Audi will open its first new concept re-center in Nuremberg, Germany, featuring reservation services and supporting rest areas. Obviously, this veteran car company is preparing for the upcoming new era of electric vehicles infrastructure that can better meet the needs of customers, especially those urban car owners who have difficulty charging at home.

Starting from e-tron pure electric/plug-in products, Audi’s electrification has covered models such as the Q4 e-tron SUV and the new RS e-tron GT. Taking into account the continued growth of market demand, the company is also systematically expanding its charging infrastructure.

As an important part of the new strategy, Audi has just introduced the concept of a modular cube “charging center” based on a container. The company can easily assemble or dismantle and transport its charging infrastructure like building blocks without taking up too much land area.

Judging from the official pictures of the Nuremberg pilot project, the Audi charging center also provides a stylish lounge + meal delivery service. Friends who are interested in the local area can visit and experience it from December 23rd.

In terms of configuration, there are only six sets of fast charging facilities that can be reserved at the beginning, with a maximum power of 320kW, but a 2153 square foot lounge + 431 square foot outdoor terrace are provided upstairs.

During the trial operation, the service hours are from 10 am to 7 pm every day. The charging center will have an employee to meet customer service needs as much as possible, but the charging facilities and lounge are still open 24/7.

In addition, the Audi charging center provides e-bike battery exchange and e-scooter rental services, and at the same time, it has not forgotten to promote its own products (such as detailed information display and Q4 e-tron / RS e-tron GT test drive), let alone Services such as self-service vending machines, mobile car care, and meal delivery are now available.

Finally, because the modular Audi EV charging center uses a temporary energy storage solution of 2.45 MWh, the requirements for the power grid are not high, and ordinary 200 kW low-voltage lines can meet the needs here.

Without breaking the capacity limit of the energy storage system, the Audi EV charging center can provide services for approximately 80 electric vehicles per day.
