Musk: SpaceX will convert carbon dioxide into rocket fuel, the project has started

Elon Musk, the founder of SpaceX, said that he has launched a plan to use atmospheric carbon dioxide as rocket fuel.

He wrote on Twitter on December 13: “SpaceX is launching a plan to separate carbon dioxide from the atmosphere and convert it into rocket fuel.” He pointed out that the implementation of this plan may be beneficial to flying to Mars. The Martian atmosphere is mainly carbon dioxide. Earlier, Musk repeatedly mentioned the plan to colonize Mars and is building a “Starship” rocket for this.

At the end of November, some media revealed that Musk was angry at SpaceX’s lack of progress in developing the “Raptor” engine that powers its interstellar spacecraft rocket.

“The production crisis of the Raptor engine is much worse than it seemed a few weeks ago,” Musk wrote. “If we can’t achieve at least once every two weeks in the interstellar spacecraft next year, we will face a real risk of bankruptcy.”
