This statement indicates that Samsung Electronics will continue to develop cutting-edge manufacturing technologies to compete with its competitors Intel and TSMC.
According to reports, Samsung Electronics’ 2nm process mass production plan is about one year later than TSMC and Intel. However, TSMC and Intel plan to introduce GAA for the first time in the 2nm process, so Samsung Electronics has advantages in terms of technical stability and yield.
At the end of June this year, Samsung announced that its 3nm process technology has been officially taped out. It is reported that the company’s 3nm process uses GAA architecture, which is better than TSMC’s 3nm FinFET architecture. However, Samsung did not disclose when the 3nm GAA process will be mass-produced at the time.
At the foundry forum held recently, Samsung stated that it plans to start producing customer-designed 3nm chips in the first half of 2022, and the second generation of 3nm chips is expected to be produced in 2023. (Little Fox)
